This happened about two years ago.

After my (ex)wife's cat died, I took her and her daughter down to the local animal shelter to get a new kitten (after an appropriate period of mourning). There was one particularly cute and very tiny siamese mix that we wanted to take, but upon asking, we were told it was too young and we would have to wait several weeks.

We wander off to look at other kittens that were available immediately. While making friends with a pair of kittens a rather large biker-type (beard, jacket, etc) wandered in. He stopped at the tiny siamese cage and watched it for a while. The kitten was meowing like crazy and butting his little head against the cage door. The biker opened the cage (this was allowed) and picked up the tiny furball.

I looked back a short time later to see this tiny little kitten curled up in his beard purring like a tiny little engine.

The look on the "bad-ass" biker was unforgettable. He was "owned". I'm glad I wasn't the one who had to tell him he couldn't take it home.

I hope they ended up together.
